    Hi! Great website!

Please can you confirm after the recent updates when the bus from Chetumal to Belize City departs?

    Many thanks,

    Becky

Hey BelizeBus blog! Do public buses run on Christmas day? I’ve traveled around Belize in January & February but never Xmas specifically. Thanks!

    • belizebus Says:

Yes, buses run on Christmas Day, but perhaps not as frequently.

For the record, water taxis also operate according to their usual schedule.

  3. Christal Neal Says:

Are rental cars allowed from Mexico?

    • belizebus Says:

Only one or two Mexican rental companies allow cars to enter Belize, so confirm that first — you’ll need the necessary documents from the company. On the Belize side, Mexican rental cars are allowed to enter Belize.

Hello, BelizeBus blog, what is the easiest/cheapest way to get from Belmopan to Philip Goldson Airport? Would it be the same route back?

    • belizebus Says:

Easiest way to go directly to the airport is by taxi or transfer service, but I don’t know the cost. If you’re already in Belmopan, you can ask a few taxi drivers what they charge. For transfer services, contact a few of the services I’ve listed in Section 4, and ask for prices/

Cheapest way is a bus to Belize City (about BZ$5), and then get another bus heading to OW/Corozal, and ask to be dropped at the airport road (about BZ$2). Then you’ll have to walk another 2 km to the airport terminal unless you can stop a taxi (they might charge you BZ$10 or $20 for that distance). Or, after arriving in BC by bus, get a taxi to the airport. That fare has been BZ$50, but may have increased recently because of fuel prices.

Same for the return trip. Easiest is a taxi or transfer service which will take you directly to Belmopan. You might save some money by getting a taxi to BC, and then a bus to Belmopan.

Thank you for all the information! I would like to travel from Chetumal to Belize city or from Corozal to Belize city on the 1st of January but I struggle to find any information for the public holiday. Are there busses on this day? If yes, when and from where?

    • belizebus Says:

In Chetumal, buses depart from the Nuevo Mercado Lázaro Cárdenas (New Market).

Buses run on public holidays, but usually on a reduced schedule, so I can’t confirm any departure times for Jan 1.

Buses make a stop at the Corozal bus terminal, then continue to Belize City.

  6. Luis Nieto Says:

Hello, i´m going to belize in a few days. i´ll cross the border by foot, so from the border is possible to take a share taxi or a bus to corozal and then in corozal take a bus to belize city? or in the border can i get a bus that travel direct to belice city? I appreciate your help.

    • belizebus Says:

On the Mexican side of the border, the Belizean buses that run from Chetumal to Corozal stop at the Mexican Immigration point, and you can board the bus there. Taxis don’t wait on that side of the border — you would have to wait until one comes along. The first bus leaves Chetumal around 10 or 10:30 am, and the last bus is around 2pm, but the schedules are changing as things gradually get back to normal.

At the new Immigration point, it’s not possible to continue walking into Belize. If you want to walk into Belize, you’ll have to go to the old/original crossing. After crossing the bridge, walk to the Immigration building. After completing Immigration & Customs, wait for a bus or colectivo in the parking area. A colectivo will only go as far as Corozal, but a bus will probably continue to Belize City — if it doesn’t, just change at Corozal bus terminal. The fare to Corozal is only BZ$1 or $2, but colectivo drivers will usually ask for more. BUs fare from Corozal to BC is about BZ$10 or $11 now.

  7. Chelle Says:

Hi, do you know how far in advance you can book the ADO bus between Mexico and Belize? Thanks!

    • belizebus Says:

At least a few months, but it’s not necessary to reserve further in advance than about a week. I always buy my tickets 1 day in advance, and it’ has never been a problem.

  8. rikglynwilliams Says:

Hi belizebus, do you know approx when the ADO bus arrives at Tulum from Belize City? I’m guessing at around 0400 local time based on a 1900 departure. It’d be really helpful to work out a more concrete time.

Thanks for the resource, really helpful.

    Rik
